It is that time of year again! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there are so many ideas for couples and even friends to celebrate the day of love. The Reef is here to give you some date ideas and tips to celebrate this holiday with your loved ones. Plans for this holiday do not have to break the bank! Simple and cheap can be thoughtful and appreciated as well!
Some popular date ideas includes a picnic down the street at Three Oaks Park, a painting class at Painting With a Twist in Gulf Coast Town Center , watching the sunrise at Fort Myers beach, or a short road trip to Sanibel! Date ideas can also be on the adventurous side. Maybe try something like a rope course at Headpinz, a scavenger hunt in downtown Fort Myers, or even a nice bike ride on a nature trail at 6 mile Cypress Slough Preserve.
The Reef also has some tips before you start planning your day! Proper planning is a great way to avoid the anxiety that comes with planning the “perfect date”. Stay away from the cliché dinner and movie date. There is so much out there to do. Don’t worry about everything going as planned. As long as everyone enjoys their self, things will be okay!
The Reef would love to shine some light on the following foundations that did not win the contest, but definitely deserve everyone’s support! Please check out their website’s for more information and to donate.

With all of the studying we know you’re bound to be doing in the coming weeks what better way to take a break from it all than to stop by the FGCU campus on December 12th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and the 13th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for puppypalooza?
Yes, you read that right, there will be puppies on campus, just waiting for you to come hug your stress away!
The event is being hosted by Campus Health and Wellness, Campus Rec, and Gulf Coast Humane Society, which is where all of our adoptable furry friends are coming from. Gulf Coast Humane is a non-profit, no-kill organization that takes in thousands of homeless pets every year. That means they don’t receive funding from county, state, or federal source. They are strictly run on the kindness and generosity of the public. And they in turn show all of their cats, dogs, and other small animals that they keep on site, the same kindness!
They are always looking for volunteers too! While these animals are waiting for their forever home, they love to spend their time with all of the amazing people that stop by in their free time.
They will be bringing some of their puppies to campus and they are always looking for donations. So if you want to stop and pet a puppy, they are always happy to see you! Oh, and so are the puppies!
Best of luck to everyone taking finals, and congratulations in advance to all of the graduating students!
